Welcome

Hello, my name is Bruno Di Giorgi
I’m obsessed with music. Since I learned the first three chords, I have spent most of my life trying to “hack” the language of music. In my early-twenties I earned the Master in Rock Guitar (MCR) diploma with top marks and worked as a pop/rock guitarist for some years, sharing the stage with some renowned Italian artists.

Meanwhile I was more and more drawn by the desire of composing my own tunes, and soon I managed to work as a soundtrack composer for commercials and movies. I had the chance to experiment with different genres and ensembles, but mostly I focused on the orchestral sound, my favourite. I gathered what learned into a course called Rock Composition and Orchestration (ROC), which I’ve been teaching since 2011.

In the last few years, pushed by a strong geek nature, I approached music from a new perspective. I obtained my M.Sc. in Computer Science in 2013 and thereafter I’ve been doing my PhD in Music Information Retrieval (MIR). During these years I’ve been developing artificial intelligence models and algorithms that should ideally “listen” to music as we do. An ambitious goal which isn’t always met, but is a lot of fun in pursuing.
